I'll go to a better place.

Alice Mulvaney.
I hope I’m making you proud
I hope you’ll see what I’ve done
I hope you know you helped so much

But I know you’re not here.

I hope you don’t mind if I move on.
I hope you don’t mind that I’ve gone
I hope I’ll go to a better place

But I know you’re not here.

I know you got ill
And your hair fell away
I hoped you’d rather stay

I didn’t think you’d really leave

Where did you go?
On that sunny Thursday
Where are you now?
Why didn’t you say?

I think of you every day.

Mother

Spoken word poem by Alice Mulvaney
Mother smiled at six month grown bump,
Sang of melodies pure and true.
Everything's gunna be alright,
I'm gunna make sure you ain't blue.

Father taught about music
Supported all I could do.
Tried to make him proud of me.
I'm pretty proud of him too.

They dealt with my tantrums
And all my teenage stops.
My default was angry,
Wait for hormones to stop.

Being raised by them
Made me want one thing.
To be a mother.
Her knowledge I'll bring.

The funeral

Alice Mulvaney

The empty sadness
I sat silent for hours.
A brilliant soul,
New beautiful powers.

Chemo was useless
Hair not needed.
''Not him''
We all pleaded.

A smile arose
No more pain.

Hallelujah

Sad again.
